CondeArtist
Hi, my name is Luis Conde and welcome to my art gallery. My artwork is an ongoing conversation between history, nature, and my Christian faith—a journey that began in my native Portugal and continues today from my home in Norwich, UK, where I moved with my family in 2007.
My fascination with capturing light began at fourteen when I built my very first darkroom. Photography quickly became my life’s work, leading to a rewarding fifteen-year career running my own professional studio. When I relocated to the UK, I chose to strip the medium back to its roots, continuing with analogue film and embracing the art of wet-plate collodion. Capturing images directly onto sheets of glass using this historical 1850s process reignited a deep desire to create entirely with my hands.
Following this inspiration, I completed a classical, classroom-based art course, where I fell in love with the timeless art of oil painting.
Today, I translate my lifelong study of light onto canvas and wooden boards. My work is deeply personal and guided by my Christian faith. Inspired by natural landscapes, flowers, and Biblical stories, I use my art to reflect the beauty of creation and the spiritual narratives that shape my world. I am so glad you are here to share in this journey with me.
